popchips Taps ReverbNation to Power Download Contest; Free Music for Fans

pop up live

popchips inc. the bay area snackmaker, has tapped ReverbNation to support their foray into the arts. ReverbNation was selected to provide custom app development, viral online marketing tools, and a pool of artists tens of thousands deep, for a web showdown of sonic proportions.  The result is pop up live, a fan-driven competition designed to expose new music to the masses, ultimately giving one artist the opportunity to play on the SPIN stage during Austin’s premiere festival, March 2012!

The bands have been chosen, the app is live.  It’s free to vote for anyone with a valid Facebook account. Download tracks from your favorites to vote and help crown a winner!

MORE DETAILS ON THE CONTEST:

250 ReverbNation bands were hand-selected out of New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and Seattle. The contest features an exclusive track from each artist, available for streaming and download on popchips’ Facebook page.  Every download registers a vote for the band.  On September 12, the four bands with the most downloads from each city will advance to the semi-finals. Each semi-finalist will win a $500 cash prize and a “pop up live kit” to help them create their own unique pop up live concert.  The gig is video-taped and judged by a panel of music experts including David Marchese (senior editor of SPIN) Tom Windish (windish agency), select top local music bloggers, and Jesse “the devil” Hughes of Eagles of Death Metal.

“We are excited to partner with SPIN and ReverbNation to give local musicians a chance to perform on a national stage,” explained popchips SVP Marketing, Brian Pope.  “We’re excited to see how creative these talented artists will get both with their music and getting the vote out.”

On October 31, popchips will announce the five finalists, one from each city, who will receive a $1,000 cash prize and an invitation to advance to the final round.  There, fans will vote for the grand prize winner on popchips Facebook page.

— Bruce Houghton, president of booking agency Skyline Music and editor of new music industry blog Hypebot.com

Simple, Automated and Affordable:

Campaigns start at just $25, and include the following:
1. Automatic Ad Creation – We build dozens of ads that are proven to perform based on the latest data (you can write your own too)
2. Simple, Powerful Fan Targeting – Tell us 5 Similar Artists and where you want to target fans (geographically), and we do the rest (we “geek out” a bit on this part)
3. Optimized Landing Pages – Fans who click on your ads will be taken to a customized landing page that engages them and drives the outcomes you want (again, we “geek” here, but this part is hardcore)
4. Fan Interaction/Sharing Tracking – Yes, we track impressions and clicks, but we also tell you who interacted and who shared with friends (you know, the stuff you really want to know).  You can even click through to meet the fans that interacted (and thank them for becoming a fan)

Early Acclaim for PROMOTE IT (don’t just take our word for it):

“Facebook is a critical piece of our social marketing.  ReverbNation’s PROMOTE IT was a key factor in promoting new releases by both established artists like Greg Brown and developing artists such as Alessi’s Ark.  We were impressed and excited by the boost in our likes, shares, and new email sign-ups, and see continued pay-off from the tool.” — Karlie Justus, Social Media Project Manager, Yep Roc Music Group

“PROMOTE IT is a great new tool…The analytics provided during and after a campaign allow for a much clearer insight into what makes each Facebook ad campaign successful. With a variety of pricing tiers,  PROMOTE IT allows for targeted Facebook promotion no matter how large or small your budget is. It even provides helpful hints to ensure that the campaign can be as impactful as possible. It’s a very cool new tool that I anticipate using quite often now and in the future.” — Marc Jetton, Sargent House / Rodriguez Lopez Productions

“We’re impressed by the simplicity and power of ReverbNation’s PROMOTE IT Facebook tool and are working with our 60 artists and the thousands of promoters we work with to make it a part of every marketing and touring campaign.” — Bruce Houghton, president of booking agency Skyline Music and editor of new music industry blog Hypebot.com

“I’ve been promoting my music online for a long time, and I’ve never worked with a company that understands artists’ needs like ReverbNation. PROMOTE IT takes all of five minutes to set up, but you’d be hard pressed to create a Facebook ad campaign that outperforms it. It’s the ultimate ‘set it and forget it’ fan-making machine!” — Brian Hazard of Color Theory, Electronic Artist

REVERBNATION LAUNCHES FACEBOOK MUSIC PROMOTION SYSTEM FOR ARTISTS, RECORD LABELS AND VENUES

August 24, 2011 (Durham, NC) – ReverbNation, the leading provider of marketing, promotion and social media tools for over 1.7 million artists and music industry professionals, today announced the public launch of PROMOTE IT, the first end-to-end music promotion system designed to help artists, labels and venues reach more fans on Facebook® and drive deeper fan engagement.

Artists, labels and venues can use PROMOTE IT to quickly and easily run campaigns that:

  • Promote songs to reach new fans
  • Promote Facebook Pages to increase exposure
  • Promote shows to boost attendance and ticket sales
  • Promote releases to drive song sales

“Facebook is the ultimate social platform of our time and we wanted to build a tool that harnessed that social power to drive the outcomes every artist, label and venue wants — more song plays, sales, downloads, shares, likes, email subscribers, and ticket sales,” explained Jed Carlson, co-founder and chief operating officer of ReverbNation.  “The outcomes so far with the Beta version of PROMOTE IT have been stunning and we’re excited to be rolling it out now to everyone in the music industry.”

PROMOTE IT campaigns take only minutes to set up, start at just $25, and are fully automated, including ad creation, precise fan targeting, custom landing pages, and actionable results reporting.  Since PROMOTE IT’s limited Beta release in April, users have run over 18,000 campaigns on the platform. Every day, the system gathers data and, overseen by a team of experts, incorporates improvements into all subsequent campaigns.

“I’ve been promoting my music online for a long time and I’ve never worked with a company that understands artists’ needs like ReverbNation,” said Brian Hazard of Color Theory, an electronic artist and active online marketer. “PROMOTE IT takes only minutes to set up and you’d be hard pressed to create a Facebook ad campaign that outperforms it.  It’s the ultimate ‘set it and forget it’ fan-making machine!”

Built for music industry from the ground up, PROMOTE IT is designed to maximize the fan interactions that happen after an ad is clicked.  Detailed, real-time reporting provides a window into who those fans are, and how they are engaging.  “The analytics provided during and after a campaign allow for a clearer insight into what makes each Facebook ad campaign successful,” said Marc Jetton, Label Manager at Sargent House/Rodriguez Lopez Productions. “It’s a very cool new tool that I anticipate using quite often now and in the future.”

PROMOTE IT campaigns are now available to all artists, labels, and venues with free accounts on ReverbNation.
