Won the Boys Like Girls Remix Contest…
Rock band Boys Like Girls conducted a remix opportunity for their single Be Your Everything and after many entries and a super intense round of voting, Kirk Alexander came out on top with his acoustic version of the song. Winning this opportunity gave him tons of exposure, including a front-page feature spot on Pure Volume! The music discovery website (which gets 1.2 million monthly visitors, by the way) said Kirk’s remix “injects a slight country tone, providing a remix loaded with dreamy acoustics, subtle twang, and the occasional melody layered with reverb.” Kirk’s new single, Okay Now, is currently available as a free download for a limited time on his ReverbNation profile.
“It was a huge blessing to have been given the opportunity to produce the winning remix of the Boys Like Girls hit single Be Your Everything. It’s such a great song, and I had so much fun working with it to give it an unplugged feel. Special thanks to Martin Johnson and the guys in the band for selecting me as a finalist, ReverbNation for the opportunity, as well as a huge thanks to all of my fans who faithfully supported me. I am so very honored and grateful.”
Got a spot on the ULikeUS Russia tour….
The All Ways, a rock band from New York, won the ULikeUs competition to perform across the largest country in the world. That is no small feat! According to the promoters, The All Ways didn’t top the chart during the online voting stage, but they became unquestionable leader and the only favorite of their panel of judges during the last stage.
“The feeling was overwhelming. We’ve had big opportunities before this playing on America’s Got Talent and Z100’s Jingle Ball in New york City but leaving the country and playing music… that is awesome! We are very humbled and gracious that the judges saw a special something in this band and gave us a shot. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and are very excited to take it on.”

Featured on That Music Magazine…
Nashville-based artist Kara Clark was featured on That Music Magazine in January. The review says: Immediately upon hearing her sing, one realizes that her voice is extremely powerful and for lack of a better way to put it, her voice packs quite a punch. She can sing the low notes with the best of them, exuding vitality, or even the higher notes with a sweet haunting air. This is the first time Kara has submitted AND won a ReverbNation opportunity.
Will perform at The Milk Bar…
The guys from rock band Hotel Eden were really pumped to find out they were chosen to perform at the well-known venue The Milk Bar in San Francisco. The band has been working really hard on connecting with other bands and fans in the Bay area for show opportunities, and subscribing to the ReverbNation Press Kits felt like a good way to support the effort. They say this opportunity comes at a great time since they’ve got a full length album coming out very soon. Stay tuned!
“[The show] is a weekend night at a well-known venue, the lineup is really exciting (The SHE’s and Bonnie and the Bang Bang), and the booker is really proactive. We’re super confident it’ll be a great night of music. Definitely a really good opportunity for Hotel Eden, and it comes at a great time since we just finished our first full length. Thanks for the connection!”
Won the Beatstars: Music Producers Remix Contest…
When he found out he won the Beatstars: Music Producers Remix Contest, Remi Desroques (side project The Monthly Tune) was in a meeting at work. He says that as soon as he went back to his office, he couldn’t control himself and started jumping all over doing the Joey’s dance (if you’ve ever see the TV show Friends, you know what he’s talking about). The selection was worldwide with over 3,000 contestants.
“[After submitting to the opportunity,] I spent night after night making the beat. I wanted to create this rage that they had. I also thought about my own situation and how hard I’m trying to be a successful producer and my fingers just followed. I never listened to the original track because I didn’t want to be influenced, even if unconsciously. After I was done and uploaded the beat online, I waited impatiently for the result. I was worried because my composition was really different from most of the submitted beats. BUT it ended to be exactly why Mr. Abe Batshon selected me, explaining in a video later that he wanted something different, not using the usual sound/rhythm patterns that all got used to like, 808 kits and so on. I was simply on top of the world. After that, I received some money and a membership to his really cool website at beatstars.com. This whole thing really helped me to get a lot of exposure!! Thank you Reverbnation and thank you Beatstars!!
More Winners: Eyeshine, Xoe Wise, Sharla LaBella, Justin and the Salty Dogs!
