Keyz Had a Video Broadcast on Hundreds of College Campuses

Rap star Keyz has opened for the likes of Big Sean, E-40 and Fat Joe and has produced collaborations with Trump, Ciara, Freeway, Rookie Snow, Weebie, Big Poppa, DJBayBay, and many more. The hip hop artist spits lyrics that promote hard work, and aims to bridge the gap between Southern and West Coast styles in his music. In the past, Keyz was chosen for Best Rap Artist, Best Rap Video, & Best Duo in the 2011 Indie Music TV Channel Awards, was #1 on the ReverbNation charts for Shreveport, LA, and was featured on Snoop Lion’s Underground Heat.

“I’ve submitted to many opportunities through ReverbNation, and it felt truly awesome to be chosen for the Campus Nation Network opportunity. Knowing that my music was reviewed and chosen is motivation to keep making good music, and having the chance for millions of people to hear it is a blessing.”

Keyz says that he uses every experience he encounters to better his music. Be on the lookout for his new album, Lead By Example, coming soon.

“I will always submit for opportunities, because even when I get turned down it makes me step up my music game so I’ll be chosen the next time. Hard work never goes unrecognized. Thanks ReverbNation for showing indie artists major love and giving us great opportunities!”

Heard in Stores and Restaurants in Cities Across America

Face The King is an independent alternative hard rock band based out of Long Island that has taken the New York rock scene by storm. After performing two consecutive years with the biggest names in alternative rock on Warped Tour and producing three acclaimed EPs, the band is just getting started when it comes to their rock career. Thanks to an opportunity through Jupiter Music, Face The King got airplay in stores across the nation, including Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts and many more.

“We heard about this opportunity through ReverbNation – our band will never pass up any remote chance we get to spread our music and message to the masses. To be chosen for such an opportunity for our music to be played in over 1,500 stores across the country is a great feeling to say the least. We’re excited at the possibility of being in one of these stores for when a Face The King song starts playing.”
With their newly released preview EP, “THE SOUND,” already receiving high praise in anticipation for their full length album, the EP takes their music to new heights, giving a more clearly defined vision of what they’re all about – encouraging listeners to ‘listen to their heart,’ and uniting people of all different walks of life through the power of music. Face The King says they hope opportunities from ReverbNation allow them to keep spreading their music!

“Without a doubt we will continue to submit to more opportunities. The wonderful thing about them is that they are free and give every band an equal chance with nothing to lose. This is more of what the music industry should be about and we’re glad that ReverbNation is doing it right.

We would like to add a special thank you to both long time and new supporters of Face The King, as you are the heart and soul of this band. Most of where this project has gone was far beyond our expectations and we have the fans and ReverbNation to thank for it. Thank you for believing in us, and helping us to believe in ourselves. Rock on!”

Jammed Out at Rock’s Rhythm Masters from Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp & Modern Drummer Magazine

Mike Brennan had a chance to attend camp – but with more rockstars and drumsticks rather than bunk beds and canoes! The rock drummer was chosen to attend Rock’s Rhythm Masters, hosted in partnership by Modern Drummer Magazine and Rock n’ Roll Fantasy Camp. The camp took place November 8-10 at Rock n’ Roll Fantasy Camp’s headquarters in Las Vegas, featuring a grand finale performance at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. The camp featured some of rock’s greatest musicians, who have written, recorded, and toured with some of the biggest stars in the industry and have sold over a billion combined records. Performers and counselors at the camp played in bands for The Eagles, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks, James Taylor, John Lennon and more.

A California native, Mike Brennan has been playing music for 34 years, including drums, bass and guitar. In addition to performing, he writes instructional books and DVDs for beginning guitar lessons and an advanced lesson series for bass players.

Featured in Video Game App Mike V: Skateboard Party 2

Punk rockers Moovalaya will soon have their music featured in a videogame app their fans are sure to love; Mike V: Skateboard Party 2. Members Ben, Sean and Mitch are extremely excited to be featured in a game that also hits close to home, as they grew up skateboarding themselves.

“We actively browse all of the Reverbnation listings because some of the opportunities can be game changing. We’ve won a few now, and are always looking for more. This particular opportunity is by far one we are most excited for. We grew up skating and playing punk rock, and Mike Vallely is an amazing skateboarder/musician. To have song placement in the sequel of one of the top apps of all games with his name on it is going to be rad.”

Moovalaya would like to thank White Knight Music Group, Pulse Records, and RadRod Studio for making all of this possible. Check out their music and catch their New Year’s Eve show in Tempe, AZ with Authority Zero.

Scored a VIP Fastpass for America’s Got Talent Season Nine Auditions in Miami

Carly Jo Jackson struck a combination of luck and talent. Her talent is what earned her a pass to the front of the line at America’s Got Talent Season Nine Auditions. As luck would have it, the Florida crooner attends school just a few hours from the audition site – Miami. This was the first opportunity the folk singer-songwriter was chosen for through ReverbNation, Carly Jo plans to submit for more, especially after learning she was chosen for another opportunity as well!

“It really made me feel like a star to have a front-of-the line pass for America’s Got Talent, and the overall experience was amazing! When I realized that only a few artists are selected for this, it really made me realize I have something that can set me apart from other artists.

I am not going to be heard if I just sit and wait for something to happen. I truly believe in trying to make the most of every opportunity that comes my way and I am so appreciative of all that ReverbNation has to offer.”

ReverbNation Artists Rock NBC’s The Voice — Exclusive Interview with Stars James Wolpert, Matt Cermanski & Will Champlin

Sweaty palms and butterflies. A few last touch-ups in the mirror. Replaying the song over and over in their head. These are just a few things that ReverbNation artists on Season Five of the hit NBC show “The Voice” experience before taking the stage every Monday night at 8 p.m.

Last night we were on the edge of our seats wondering if ReverbNation singers Jonny Gray and James Wolpert would be safe. Luckily, James made it past this round and into the top ten, but we were sad to see Jonny go. Since the show’s beginning, we’ve seen these artists, plus Reverb vocalists Kat RobichaudBarry BlackJonny GrayMatt Cermaksi, Matthew SchulerWill Champlin and Tessanne Chin give their all each week to wow the judges and entertain the excited live audience hanging on their every lyric – not to mention the millions of fans watching them on TV.

For singers James WolpertMatt Cermaksi and Will Champlin, competing on “The Voice” was a dream come true, and a result of hard work and perseverance. The singers sat down with us to talk about their pre-show rituals, offer advice to aspiring singers and talk about what it’s like to work with some of the biggest names in the business.

ReverbNation Artist Matt Cermanski NBC's The Voice

Matt Cermanski is one of the top up-and-coming singer-songwriters from Philadelphia, PA. After not making a team on Season Four of “The Voice,” Matt took the coaches’ advice and began taking vocal lessons and performing at local venues. He returned to The Voice with the hope of connecting with America and jumpstarting his career. Matt was eliminated on the October 21 episode, but he will continue to promote his music, primarily his debut album “Long Road Home.”

ReverbNation artist Will Champlain on NBC's "The Voice"

Will has music in his veins: His dad was a singer, songwriter and keyboardist for the rock band Chicago. Even though he grew up with music, Will didn’t begin singing until around age 17! After graduating from Berklee School of Music in Boston, Will left for LA to play gigs around the city. He provided backup vocals for Glenn Frey of The Eagles and even played on Michael Jackson’s last album. Today, Will’s musical inspiration is his one-year-old daughter.  A favorite on “The Voice,” Will is currently Team Adam, after he was stolen by Christina and then stolen back by Adam!

James Wolpert The Voice ReverbNation NBCAfter attending Carnegie Mellon for two years, James dropped out to pursue music. Despite his family’s hope of re-enrollment, he moved to Pittsburgh, where he was an Apple Store Genius by day and musician by night. His life-changing choice to follow his passion ended up leading him to audition for “The Voice.”  James is proud to represent Pittsburgh on the show, but recently moved to LA in hopes of furthering his career. He, along with Matt and Will, represent Team Adam!

What was the audition and selection process like?

Matt: The audition for “The Voice” was a long but rewarding process. Everyone that works with the show, from production to the casting department, were a pleasure to work with. As you go through each level of the auditions it gets more and more exciting to know you are getting close to being on TV.

Will: It was definitely a lengthy process, but they really make sure you’re able to give your best and look your best as well. I just went in and sang a few songs and they ended up liking what I was bringing to the table and gave me a great chance that’s so far working out well.

James:  The whole process was a labor of love! It was super intense and rife with pressure— I couldn’t feel my legs walking through the stage door! I didn’t think that it could be so unnerving to have 4 people not-look at you.

How do you prepare for the show? Any special rituals?

Matt: Sadly no crazy pre-show rituals. I warm my voice up and kind of just chill out. I am thankful for all the hundreds of gigs I’ve played since I was 16-years-old that made me so comfortable on the stage. Of course I get butterflies right before a performance, but as soon as I hit the stage all that drifts away and I get lost in the music and the rush of performing.

Will: I go over the song in its entirety. I find the spots that I can make my own almost as if I’m writing my own songs. I try to inject artistry into these songs the same way that I would in my own music. I warm up some, but try not to over do it.

James: I try to center myself and remind myself of why I’m doing any of this in the first place. It’s for the love of music, man! I also think of all the people in my life that I love.

Matt Cermanski The Voice NBC ReverbNation

“My advice to all aspiring artists is think positive and positive things will happen. Never give up on your dreams, don’t let any one tell you that you can’t do something, and work as hard as you possibly can to improve yourself, if you don’t you are only lying to yourself.” – Matt Cermanski

What is the most important lesson you have learned from being on the show?

Matt: I learned so much, I don’t even know where to start. I learned a lot about my voice obviously, working with Adam Levine helped me learn what I need to do to get to the next level, as a singer. The whole show is just one big learning experience and I took every little piece of info I could get so I can use it to better myself all around as a singer-songwriter and musician.

Will: Don’t forget your own sound. It’s very easy for anyone to sing a song verbatim, but America doesn’t want that. Originality is the most important thing that will keep you in the game. “The Voice” is geared for artists who have a clearer idea of who they are and what they want to sound like, as opposed to other shows that simply throw on a track and say “good luck.”

James: To (counterintuitively) find a place where I can disregard the external consequences of performing on the show (What will people think of me? Will I be good? Will they vote for me? Will there be hayterz?) and completely immerse myself in the music. Because I love music :]. On a related note, Adam also likes to drive home an interesting work ethic mantra: “rehearse and rehearse and rehearse until it’s muscle memory. That way, by the time you hit the stage, you have the liberty to forget all of that and exude the song”.

What advice would you give to other aspiring artists who hope to be in your shoes one day?

Matt: My advice to all aspiring artists is think positive and positive things will happen. Never give up on your dreams, don’t let any one tell you that you can’t do something, and work as hard as you possibly can to improve yourself. If you don’t, you are only lying to yourself. My favorite quote is from rapper Macklemore: “The greats weren’t great because at birth they could paint, the greats were great cause they paint a lot”.

Will: Think outside your comfort zone and then take steps to grow beyond that. It’s a must. It’s all about finding your own formula and making it work for yourself. Music is changing so much these days. Nothing is pop or commercial until its literally popular and blasting on radio, TV and VEVO. Don’t listen to the wrong people. Trust your instincts and position yourself to prosper in your art by working hard and paying attention.

James: I refuse to believe I’m in any position to be pontificating, but here’s what I’ve learned so far:

Your love of music is going to be what carries you through! Allow me to repurpose the words of the late Mr. Steve Jobs in the context of music (or any art/thing for that matter) — Making music that puts dents in the universe is about being insane enough to press onward where any person in their right mind would quit. I loved music so much that I let it wreck my life a little bit— and as it turns out, that’s exactly what needed to happen :]

Will Champlin The Voice NBC ReverbNation

“Simply put, having a ReverbNation profile has helped me get my music heard…Amazingly, I also found out about the casting call of ‘The Voice’ Season Five through a ReverbNation opportunity, so I’d say it has been instrumental in my musical journey.” – Will Champlin

How has having a ReverbNation profile helped you?

Matt: ReverbNation has helped me reach out to fans and other artists who share the same love for music as I do. It is a great tool to market yourself, and in this day in age you need all the social media presence you can get. Why not take advantage of using the best for music, ReverbNation!

Will: Simply put, having a ReverbNation profile has helped me get my music heard, rather than getting lost amidst the chaos of the Internet. I feel that it is the hub of my online content, everything between gigs, as well as links to other essential social networking sites. Amazingly, I also found out about the casting call of “The Voice” Season Five through a ReverbNation opportunity, so I’d say it has been instrumental in my musical journey.

James: Reverbnation has been the hub of my digital music life for a few years now! It’s a great way to get yourself out there and share your craft with the rest of the planet!

Anything else you’d like to add?

Matt: I am currently in the works of writing new music and working on a new album. But you can buy my debut album “Long Road Home” on iTunes. Check out my websiteTwitterFacebook and join my mailing list for new updates on shows and music. Thank you all for reading! Much love!

Will: It’s been an incredible journey to get to this point, and I really want to encourage everyone that is considering taking a bold step forward in their career to make the jump. It may take a few tries, and it may seem discouraging for a bit, but perseverance is the name of game. Just don’t be afraid to dream big, because amazing things happen everyday, and I feel like I’m living proof.

James Wolpert NBC The Voice ReverbNation

Artists, the cool thing about getting votes in the FIAT Band Prix is that your fans vote for you by downloading your song. It’s really that simple, plus, there’s something in it for them too! Start inviting your friends, fans family and more to cast their votes by downloading your song on the FIAT USA Facebook page. We suggest posting to Facebook and Twitter, sending emails, and telling everyone through word-of-mouth! You’ll also notice that we built banners directly into your ReverbNation widgets, artist profile, band profile app, and FanReach email template; the banner redirects your fans to the app and automatically puts your song at the top!

Fans, you’ve gotta be 13 years old and you have to like the FIAT USA Facebook page in order to gain access to the thousands of free songs available for download. Each download counts as one vote, and you can only vote for a song once. You can vote for as many songs as you like, meaning you’ll be able to get hundreds of new songs to add to your own personal library. Check out the guide below to see how it’s done.

First, “like” the FIAT USA Facebook page (and check out the snazzy Band Prix cover photo!) Then click on the FIAT Band Prix Facebook app, circled below in blue.

Next, click the different genre tabs and scroll through the artists on the different pages! This is a great way to download and discover new music. Remember, if you click the link on your favorite artist’s ReverbNation page, or one that they post via Facebook and Twitter, it will automatically place their name at the top of the list. That will save you some time searching for them. Hit the “Download” button to download their song, which automatically casts your vote.

Signed to North Star Media

Epoch Failure Wins Campus Nation: Music Video Feature across College Campuses

Urban pop duo Epoch Failure makes laid-back music that reflects their life mantra of “cold beers and high fives,” which they say is all they really ask for out of life. After applying for a deal with North Star Media through ReverbNation, the group was excited to be chosen for a recording contract and publishing deal. This isn’t the first time they’ve scored big through opportunities. In the past, Epoch Failure has been awarded opportunities to perform at the 2012 Hard Rock Cafe Battle of the Bands, NoDa Fall Musicfest, and had their song played on CBS Radio after being a Featured Artist on ReverbNation.

“We applied for placement on North Star Media’s artist roster for sync and licensing, and they believed in us and our music so much that they signed us for a recording contract and publishing deal. All in all, ReverbNation has really helped propel our career forward and until we recently signed with North Star Media, it was our go-to tool for getting on the inside track to the industry.”

Even after signing, the group says that they plan to keep applying for opportunities and hope that it will continue to help spread their songs to current and new fans. They just released their first official single with North Star Media: Check out their brand new video for the track “Where I’m Sposed to Be.”

Blasted Through Speakers on K-100 Radio

Hip Hop artist Woo Child submitted his song “Anywhere” for K-100 Radio and was thrilled when his song was chosen for airplay. He says he is grateful to K-100 and Blizam for choosing him and promoting his music through their show, website and social media. You can hear Woo Child’s songs on popular video games like UFC Undisputed and Saint’s Row 3 thanks to his involvement with the licensing program opportunity.

It’s always a good feeling to get selected, when you know so many artists were competing for so few spots.  I will definitely submit to more projects in the future.  Huge shoutout to K-100 and Blizm for selecting me for this opportunity and going above and beyond promoting my music.”

Rocked the Skateboard Marketing Metal Industry Showcase

Negative Sky is an aggressive and thought-provoking metalcore group, based out of Central NJ, utilizing a diverse mixture of heavy groove, technicality, melody, and attitude. They had the chance to play at a private showcase held by Skateboard Marketing Ltd during the week of the biggest music convention in NYC. These metalheads were able to open for fellow Jersey rockers Fit For An Autopsy and Otep. Check out this video from their live performance.

Featured as a Spotlight Artist in Substream Magazine

Alternative band June Divided was featured in Substream Magazine for their August/September issue. The band has worked with the publication before, but this is the first time they’ve been able to get a feature with them.

“We’re always active on ReverbNation and take advantage of every opportunity that we can. We’ve submitted to several ReverbNation opportunities and have been very fortunate to take part in a lot of great showcases, interviews and radio plays. Substream has worked with us in the past, however, this is the first time we got a feature with them. It was a really cool step forward.”

Performing at the International Music and Entertainment Association Awards

Not many 15-year-olds are invited on stage by a legendary group like the Oak Ridge Boys or have a chance to perform at the International Music and Entertainment Association Awards. Beginning her music career at the age of 12, Mary Sarah started out at a performer at Kidz Bop live concerts, and recorded her first full-length album at age 14. Thanks to being chosen from a ReverbNation oppotunity, Mary Sarah will take the stage at the 2013 IMEA Awards on November 2, 2013 in Ashland, Kentucky.

More Winners: The Bone Chimes, Steve Liriks, Pip, Red Cup Music and Spider Rockets

The Bone Chimes

The Bone Chimes attended and played a Music & Branding Showcase
“The Knitting Factory is an AMAZING venue with great sound, stage, and history. It was an honor to play there for the first time. The show sounded great, felt great and introduced us to a few new fans (Every single fan counts). We also now have a relationship with The Knitting Factory and hope to play there next year.”

Steve Liriks

Steve Liriks will be featured in the October-December issue of Quip Magazine

PIP Featured in GLAM Magazine

“The feeling of someone singling you out of a bunch of other musicians, really makes you know that this is the right path you’ve chosen. As long as someone is enjoying and connecting with what I am doing, that’s all it’s really about for me!”

Red Cup Music
