Eight years ago, four guys sitting on the hood of an old beat up Dodge Dynasty formed 50 Dollar Dynasty. Fast forward to 2014, and the four-piece took the stage at Big D NYE, the largest New Year’s Eve event in the Central Time Zone.
Performing for an audience of 40,000 (with more than 1.5 million viewers at home) seemed like a dream for the four Bandera, TX musicians, who play at venues around Austin, San Antonio and throughout Texas. As if that event, sponsored by Texas Motor Speedway wasn’t enough, 50 Dollar Dynasty got some great coverage on KCWX-TV prior to Big D NYE. Watch their segment:
The band was selected from a pool of 11,000 submissions through a ReverbNation opportunity. They made it through two additional rounds of judging, and were selected to entertain the millions of music fans who tuned in for the event, which aired in 12 states. The band was also recently selected for airplay on Deep Ellum ON AIR, another opportunity through ReverbNation.
“The Big D NYE show was an amazing opportunity and allowed Fifty Dollar Dynasty to be heard by millions,” said Todd Mulville, Manager for 50 Dollar Dynasty. “As an indie artist, this was huge for the band. To us, this showed how easy it is for artists to market their brand and take advantage of all the opportunities ReverbNation has to offer.”
Mulville has been managing the band for more than six months. Prior to Mulville’s arrival, lead guitarist Tyrel Stone’s twin brother Matt managed 50 Dollar Dynasty, updating their social media profiles and submitting the band to numerous ReverbNation opportunities. Amazingly, Matt was able to manage the band all while on active duty in the Navy.
The band released their EP, Prisoner, in early December. They saw record sales spike after their NYE performance and rose to the top of the ReverbNation charts. They’re currently being pursued for licensing opportunities, while continuing to play shows across the region.
“Fifty Dollar Dynasty’s story shows that if you work hard, market yourself, and take advantage of the opportunities available to you, indie and DIY artists can make it and get noticed,” said Mulville.
