Artist Session: Database

Brazilian electronica duo, Database, recently premiered their newest EP ‘Another Love’ on THUMP and their debut album 'Vivid Expostion’ is due for release in April on Life On Planes Records. Lucio and and Yuri of Database curated a Collection for us featuring some of their favorite ReverbNation artists and gave us the 411 on how they met, what the Brazilian dance scene is like, and more!

How did you guys meet?

We met in school, we were about 5 years old.

What’s the dance scene like right now in Brazil and how would you compare it to the scene in the US or Europe?

I would say we have one of the best scenes in the world, we have an island called Florianopolis, which we could compare to Ibiza, we have 6 of the best clubs in the top 100 in the world, the biggest festivals, and so many Brazilian artists are getting big! We probably have the best dance scene in the world.

How did you get involved with New York’s Savoire Adore, J Migs and Luciano from Tweleves,  for the 4-track EP Another Love?

We meet Paul on the first day of our first tour in US, he showed us the first album of Savoir Adore, he’s one of the best musicians that we know, so it was just a matter of time before we worked together. Luciano and Joao are also friends from long time, we played a lot together around Brazil and we are obviously their biggest fans.

Who do you dream of collaborating with?

Soulwax, Dj koze, Basement Jaxx, The Glimmers, Zero 7, Mr Oizo, St Vincent, Jungle, Pompeya, Chemical Brothers

What can we expect from your new album? Any collaborations?

Well, we can say that our new album is also a Tribute to our heroes like Daft-Punk, Chemical Brothers, Groove Armada, Basement Jaxx, Chic and etc. We did collabs with Savoir Adore, French Horn Rebellion, Patrick Baker, Tidal Caves, B.Starr, Bogan Via and Aldo The Band.

Tell us about your US Tour? Dates, Stops, and dream festival to play at?

We’re still booking dates for May, but looks like we’re going to be back in US after long 5 years! Obviously Coachella, Electric Zoo, Burning Man, Lollapalooza, EDC, Montreux Jazz Festival, Movement Electronic Festival, Governors Ball, Bpm, so many to say.

What’s currently on your playlist besides your fellow CONNECT peeps?

Falcon Punch, Autograf, Sugar Hill, Drunky Daniels, F82, Andras Fox, Lxury, Thundercat, El Guincho , Ben Khan, Swim Mountain, Fly Bear, Andras Fox, Lxury.
