Instagram has unveiled a bunch of new features to help you “stay close to your crew.”

And a few of these tools could be really useful as you promote your music.

Here’s the TLDR…

1. Share playable tracks in your DMs

If your music is available in Meta’s music catalog, you can share a 30-second snippet within your DMs. Or share a song by your favorite artist.

It’ll appear in the conversation, and a nice little vinyl record spins while the track plays.

Now don’t go spamming all your contacts! But this feature could be handy for the right moment of promotion or networking.

    2. Schedule DMs

Ever wanted to write a message to someone on Instagram, but you didn’t, because you thought it’d be more effective or polite to send it at a later time?

Now you have the best of both worlds: Compose the DM now, schedule it, and it’ll automatically be delivered later.

Again, this could make both networking and fan engagement more convenient.

    3. QR codes for group-chat invites

Got a valuable group discussion going? Maybe a bunch of musicians sharing venue contacts or advice? Want to make it easier for the right people to join the conversation?

QR codes! Which you can change at any time in order to control access to the group-chat.

Those are the three new features that seemed most immediately useful for musicians, but there are others — including:

    • Instant text translation
    • Pinning messages to the top of chats
    • And more

Check out Instagram’s official announcement for details.
